Bloo Moose Romance ~ The Lucky

In The Bloo Moose Romance series, there are several businesses that are important to the town and the townspeople. Today, let’s look at The Lucky.
History of The Lucky
There are exactly zero national chain stores in Bloo Moose. Some of this is on purpose, as the townspeople are all about supporting local businesses. Some of it is because Bloo Moose isn’t on a major highway, and it’s too small for the big chains to notice.
But every town needs a coffee shop, a place for locals to gather in the mornings. A place to grab a tea or coffee along with some delicious treats. And maybe a bit of gossip to go with it!
Owner of The Lucky
When Jaz LaChance turned his back on the limelight and returned to Bloo Moose, he was ready to settle down in the town. He needed a place to heal, and recover from his former job as an underwear model. He still can’t believe he got sucked into that one. While Jaz has many regrets about that time in his life, it left him with a healthy bank account, one he can use to help out his family, his friends, and his town.
Over the years, Jaz bought up any empty properties along the boardwalk. Many of the storefronts have apartments above. He rents them out to tenants at low prices to help keep the economy of the town running. He also bought The Lucky for himself. Jaz needed a project to keep himself from slumping into a depression after returning, and The Lucky provided him with that and more.
Jaz is all for improving the environment, and The Lucky has a policy to use as few one-use cups as possible. BlooMers are encouraged to bring their reusable cups with them – and are charged a $5 surcharge to use a paper cup. Very few forget more than once! With reusable mugs on sale with The Lucky emblem, most tourists buy themselves one as well.
Naming The Lucky
When Jaz was renovating the building for his new business, he decided to name it The Lucky for a couple of reasons. The first was that he was an incredibly lucky man. He had an amazing family, including a twin who would always have his back. He’d survived his career in the limelight, and had money enough to help others.
Best of all, his surname of LaChance translates to The Lucky in English. It was an impossible name to resist.
The Lucky’s Baker
Megs Carter provides all the baking for The Lucky. She’s a master of loaves and breads, and she’s a huge proponent of chocolate making everything better. You can always find something to improve your mood at The Lucky.
Of course, Megs is much more than the baker. She’s made it her mission to keep track of every BlooMer and every tourist who comes their way. If it’s happening in Bloo Moose, Megs likely knows all about it. And if she can beat Mario Fortini in spreading the gossip, she’s a very happy woman.
Do you have a favorite coffee shop? Any local shops in your area? Most of ours have been replaced by the chains but I’d love to visit The Lucky and try Meg’s brownies!
