Small Town Characters ~ Sawyer Banks

Sawyer Banks images

I thought it would be fun to have a look at some of the characters in my small-town romances. Each one has become a real person to me and I know WAY more about them than ever shows up in the stories. Let’s talk characters!

Sawyer Banks

Sawyer is the first hero to show up in the Bloo Moose series. He wasn’t the first character who came to mind for book #1 but that’s a long story for another day. Sawyer’s book is Reaching For Normal (Bloo Moose #1). If you haven’t read it yet, Reaching For Normal is free on all retailers.

Our hero might not be a fan of the limelight but he’s getting it today.

Sawyer Banks ~ background

Sawyer grew up with his parents and sister, Darby, in Bloo Moose. His parents were environmentally conscious, and his dad helped in the relocation of wolves into the Vermont wilderness. Sawyer has always loved the outdoors and nature. He’d prefer to take a hike in the woods than just about anything.

Sawyer’s parents were killed when he was an older teen. Darby was a few years younger. Their deaths (obviously) changed everything for the siblings.

Sawyer Banks ~ Hero

Sawyer would hate that designation but he’s earned it!

Not long after their parents died, Sawyer joined the army. He wanted to get a job that would help support Darby and himself. The army suited Sawyer’s personality, and he moved up through the ranks. He learned to depend on himself in a wide variety of situations. He also learned to trust and depend on his teammates. That was a bit of a surprise for him, as trust doesn’t come easily.

Sawyer became close with his team and for more than a decade they moved across the world, helping locals and taking on the worst of the worst.

On his last mission, everything went wrong. If you’ve read Reaching For Normal, you’ll know a bit more, so I won’t go into that here. The events of that time haunt Sawyer, and they changed him. He became more reclusive, more closed off. If it weren’t for Darby, he might have slipped into the woods to live on his own with his dogs and the wolves.

And then a certain writer showed up in Bloo Moose and she changed everything again ~ this time for the better.
