Small-Town Characters ~ Tansy Cheveyo

I thought it would be fun to have a look at some of the small-town characters in my romances. Each one has become a real person to me and I know WAY more about them than ever shows up in the stories. Let’s talk characters, specifically Tansy Cheveyo!
Tansy Cheveyo
Tansy is the first heroine to show up in the Small-Town Heroes series. Tansy’s book is Built Of Secrets (Small Town Heroes #1). If you haven’t read it yet, Built Of Secrets is free on all retailers.
While Tansy isn’t one who likes to be on center stage, but today, let’s turn the spotlight on her!
Tansy Cheveyo ~ Background
Tansy Cheveyo grew up with her parents and her brother Joe in Sacramento in the US. From the beginning, Tansy was a quiet kid who liked books, blocks, and experimenting. With everything! She showed an early affinity for electronics and robotics, working on her first robots before she even had a driver’s license.
When Tansy was 12 and her brother was sixteen, their parents were killed in a car crash and their entire world changed.
Joe’s best buddy’s parents had always taken in foster kids and the Riveras brought Joe and Tansy into their home. They’d only ever taken boys, but made an exception for Tansy. Because of that, Tansy ensured she took up as little space as possible – physically and emotionally. She sank even further into her inventions and experiments, finding her own way to deal with her grief.
Mrs. Rivera helped Tansy in many ways, but one of the most important was helping her secure patents for her TeenySaur toys. Robotic dinosaurs that worked together to complete tasks while helping kids learn to code.
Tansy Cheveyo ~ Adult Life
Tansy used the money from her patents to help her choose her own fields to research. Never one to stay on a single path, Tansy played with learning to improve prostheses, solar panels, farming methods to help third world countries, and so much more. She also loves to play with growing things in sustainable ways and making cleaning robots, freeing her time from the mundane tasks to those she finds interesting.
From the moment she moved in with the Riveras, Tansy was intrigued by another boy who was a good friend of Joe’s. Sam Young fascinated her as she watched him struggle with his own past and his grief. She watched him grow from a boy who didn’t believe his own worth to a man who hunts down those who hurt kids.
Tansy’s childhood crush hasn’t diminished. And when she retreats to Midnight Lake to work on her grandfather’s cabin in the woods, she finds a home for herself. And when Sam comes to check on her, and carrying his own burdens, she might just find everything she’s ever wanted.
If you had Tansy’s skills, what would you build to make your life better? I think she’s on the right track with the Cleanysaurs!
