Small Town Heroes: Midnight Lake Lodge

In the Small Town Heroes series, most of the action is set on a property just outside of Phail Vermont. It’s a fascinating place with lots of get places to live, to work, to create, and to just be. Today, let’s look at the Midnight Lake Lodge.
History of Midnight Lake Lodge
Tansy and Joe Cheveyo’s grandfather Koko once owned the Midnight Lake Lodge and property. The siblings inherited it when he passed away. As kids, Koko took them, and sometimes Sam and Nico, up to Vermont to spend time camping in the woods without any of the modern amenities. They learned to love nature and the area.
The property had originally been home to a fishing lodge. Midnight Lake is large enough for small planes to land and lift off. For years, the property hosted fly-in fisherman who stayed in the huge lodge.

When Tansy was trying to leave behind the mess created by her ex, she thought of the property. It hadn’t been named at that point.
Tansy doesn’t sit still very often. She loved the land and the privacy it offered. Most people don’t want a two-mile hike from where they park their cars to their house. Tansy thought it was a perfect place to hide away from the world.
She was there from December to March on her own before Sam showed up to check on her.
Upgrading Midnight Lake Lodge
When Tansy arrived, she decided Midnight Lake lodge needed some upgrades. Specifically, she wanted to help the environment by taking the entire property off the grid. That meant she needed to figure out new power sources. With all of her experiments, Tansy needs a lot of power!
It took a couple of months, but Tansy brought in the solar panels one at a time. January and February in Vermont are snowy months and these were no exceptions. She created a carrier to attach to her fat bike and got the panels through the hike.
Tansy rigged a pulley system to get the solar panels to the roof and installed them. She’s just finishing up the project when Sam arrives.
Midnight Lake Lodge Setup
Midnight Lake Lodge is a huge structure. It is three floors of space, giving Tansy and her friends plenty of privacy and space to work. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and the plumbing was upgraded when pastel fixtures were popular.
Aisling Gallagher and Graham Buchanan have the task of upgrading the interior of Midnight Lake Lodge. Windows, trim, updated bathrooms, kitchen, are all on the To Do list. As is keeping the lodge’s old-world charm. It’s a project that should last them a lifetime.
I’d love to visit Midnight Lake Lodge. The privacy, the views, the lodge itself all appeal to me. Would you like to check out the Lodge or do you prefer the city?
